Otter Photography Workshop
Book a one to one workshop with a focus on getting the most out of the incredible otters found on the Isle of Mull, or if you are looking for a more remote and truly wild experience the Shetland Islands.
Availability
It is possible to guide you on your otter adventure throughout the year as well as providing assistance with booking accommodation and ferry crossings if required.

Transport
If you are travelling to the Island on the day I will collect you from the appropriate ferry terminal. If you are staying on the Island I will pick you up and provide transport between the best locations via a spacious 4X4 vehicle.
Equipment
If you have your own camera then that is great and lenses between 300-500mm are Ideal. However if you do not have your own equipment I can offer the use of a Full Frame DSLR + Pro lens!
Additional Information
All my workshops are run as either 1-1 or 1-2. Why no more? Otters are shy and elusive, any more than 2 clients would be too intrusive and likely, adversely affect the animals behaviour. It is particularly important to avoid this if you are photographing a mother and cubs.
I am still charging my 2019 rates of £270 for 1-1, £340 for 1-2 per day, a non-refundable deposit of £50 per day is required to secure your dates. This is for a full day, making the most of the available daylight. The best chance of seeing costal otters is generally either side of a low tide, but I’ve had fantastic encounters at high tide too. It is therefore, best to be out all hours if your time is limited. I take clients to the best locations I know, be it on Scotland's West Coast or the Shetland Islands.

A lot of scouting is done via a 4X4 (a must to avoid getting stuck). I usually guide for a minimum of 3 days to offer the best chance of getting the images / footage you want, however if I’m already working in a location I can do single days to get you on the right track.
For added peace of mind my workshops include full Public & Products Liability Insurance. I am also operating from 2021 with up to date first aid training and full COVID 19 vaccination.
